- Mr. Selley:
- My wife and I live in Temple, a village of about a 100 homes on the Thames in Berkshire. It is a beautiful village in just about all respects other than our broadband speeds which range from 1 to 3 mbps.
- The good news is that we are being upgraded to Superfast Broadband courtesy of BDUK and our local council and the Superfast Berkshire program. This resulted in last years contract award to Call Flow Solutions to work with Openreach to bring high speed broadband to a number of areas within Berkshire including Temple.
- The bad news is that at every step of the process we have been given status updates indicating that we are waiting on something from your organisation. The original planned implementation date for our upgrade was June, this has been revised outward time and time again and while we are now hoping for December it seems more likely that it will be some time next year. The isolated nature of our village does pose a challenge, and we understand that to be a factor, but at the moment we are very much in the dark in regards to when we will finally see a result.
- I am writing to you as one of the two "digital champions" representing the village (the other is copied on this email) and would like to ask for two things on behalf of Temple:
- First, can you tell me if the work that Openreach needs to do for Temple has been scheduled and if so when will it be completed? I understand that there are two pieces of work to be done, a fibre connection to the new cabinet that has been installed in the village and an upgrade to a footway junction box, with a cable replacement, near the main cabinet (which is Littlewick Green Cabinet 9 in Burchetts Green).
- Second, if this work has not been scheduled, or if it is not scheduled to be done soon, can your office help to have it prioritised to be delivered more quickly?
- Thank you in advance for any help that you can render on our behalf.

- You wrote to my CEO Clive Selley regarding the delivery of Superfast Broadband to your village by Call Flow Solutions and Clive has asked me to investigate.
- I do not have all the details yet but thought I would drop you this note to let you know that I am dealing with this. Call Flow Solutions will have ordered a number of network products from Openreach and they will add their equipment to create their full broadband solution. I would like to deliver a good service for Call Flow Solutions such that in turn they can deliver a good service for you. We are in receipt of orders for cabinet work and a fibre connection though the fibre is a very recent order. I would like to check with Call Flow Solutions that the component orders I see are indeed those that comprise the solution for your village. I do know that further engineering work was progressing yesterday and I do not believe there is a hold up to scheduling. I will provide further updates as I gain clarity on the situation.
- Could I ask how you receive your updates that indicate there are delays to the role out and it is awaiting Openreach.

- Andy:
- We are receiving monthly updates from Call Flow Solutions and from Superfast Berkshire. These updates have consistently indicated that we are waiting on work from Openreach. I would note that these updates do not provide much if any detail of what works have been requested and when or how they tie together into a critical path to an implementation. Our village poses a little greater than the average challenge for connectivity and we do understand that this adds complexity to any solution.
- The concern that Roger and I share (as digital champions for the village) is that the implementation date for this project has slipped from mid summer, to late summer, to autumn, to December, and now to who knows when!
- Anything that you can do to ensure that the works being done by Openreach are in progress (and proceeding as rapidly as possible!) and that Call Flow is up to date on your schedules would be appreciated. I will reach out to both Call Flow and to Superfast Berkshire so they know of my contact with you. Hopefully coming out of these communications we can have an estimated completion date that is in the not to distant future and is one that we can depend on achieving.
- Thanks for your help,
- Will
